Shubman Gill Taken Aback by Personal Question at Toss
In a recent match against the Punjab Kings, Shubman Gill, captain of the Gujarat Titans, found himself slightly annoyed when broadcaster Danny Morrison strayed from cricket and asked him a personal question during the toss. The former New Zealand cricketer, known for his playful style, queried whether Gill was thinking about marriage, catching the young player off guard.
Usually calm and collected in such situations, Gill seemed less than pleased this time. He offered a quick, restrained answer and moved on, demonstrating his discomfort with the off-topic inquiry.
This isn’t the first time Morrison has put Gill in an awkward spot. Last season in the 2025 IPL, he had posed a similar question, asking, “You’re looking good, wedding bells around the corner?” Gill had responded then with a nervous smile, saying, “No, nothing like that,” before swiftly changing the subject.
The exchange has drawn mixed reactions from fans, many questioning the appropriateness of personal questions during a professional broadcast.
On Sunday, Gill’s reaction hinted that he was tired of these repeated inquiries. However, both parties quickly refocused on the game as the conversation faded.
Gill has been guiding the Gujarat Titans effectively in the 2026 IPL season, currently sitting in fifth place on the league table with 10 points after nine matches played.
