Fresh reports about Tumbbad 2 suggest that Alia Bhatt might make a cameo in the highly anticipated sequel of this folk horror film. According to sources, she is expected to play a brief yet impactful role in the project, which is currently in production in Mumbai.

The sequel features both Sohum Shah and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, with Adesh Prasad at the helm. While Alia’s appearance might be short, insiders claim her character will be crucial to advancing the story. A report indicated that the film’s creators wanted someone who could create a significant impression in a limited time, and Alia fits that need perfectly.

Tumbbad 2 is set to delve deeper into the dark mythology surrounding Hastar, the cursed deity introduced in the original film, and will explore the repercussions of disturbing forces that should remain undisturbed.

Filming for the sequel started on April 7, 2026. The production team has set up an expansive set spanning about 7 to 8 acres in Mumbai, designed to mimic an entire city, which has heightened excitement among fans.

Furthermore, reports hint that Alia’s portions will be filmed at an elaborate set in Madh Island, with her scheduled to shoot for just two days. With the star also preparing for the Met Gala 2026 on May 4, there may be plans to use a body double for certain scenes to accommodate her timetable.

The film is being produced by Sohum Shah through his production company, Sohum Shah Films, alongside Pen Studios, led by Dr. Jayantilal Gada. The distribution responsibilities lie with Pen Marudhar. An official confirmation regarding Alia Bhatt’s involvement is still pending, and the film is expected to hit theaters on December 3, 2027.
