Kolkata Students Overcome Challenges to Achieve Academic Success

In Kolkata, several students have triumphed over personal challenges to excel in the recent ICSE and ISC exams, showcasing their resilience and determination.

One notable student, Uday Vir Yaduka from DPS Newtown School, achieved an impressive 86.2% in ISC, with outstanding marks of 93 in physics and 97 in computer science. Uday faces physical challenges, including spasticity in his right limbs, a shorter right leg, and a slight wrist deformity. In preparation for his exams, he made significant sacrifices, including stepping away from electronic devices after his pre-board exams to focus solely on studying. Although he feels he could have performed even better, Uday’s results highlight his perseverance and dedication to his goal of becoming a computer engineer. He acknowledged the unwavering support of his parents, who work in private firms. Uday stated, “Letting go of my devices was tough, but it brought me clarity. My parents’ encouragement, despite their busy schedules, pushed me to stay focused and strive for what seems impossible.”

Deb Paul from Sri Sri Academy is another success story, achieving 94.2% in ICSE. Coming from a humble background—with a scrap collector for a father and a homemaker for a mother—Deb is known for his quiet determination and sincere approach to studies. His teachers commend his hard work and self-belief. Deb expressed gratitude for his parents, who provided a supportive environment without pressure, saying, “Board exams are challenging, but what’s even tougher is facing them alone. My parents always asked if I gave my best, which motivated me to work harder.”

Lastly, Sk Inayat, also from Sri Sri Academy, scored 93.4% in ICSE. He balances both academics and sports well and proudly earned a perfect score in physical education. Inayat’s school community celebrates his accomplishments, and he encourages others with his wise words: “Enjoy life, but don’t forget to study. You will never regret the results of hard work.”

These students represent the power of determination in overcoming obstacles and achieving their goals.
