Firoz A. Nadiadwallah Takes Legal Action in Hera Pheri Rights Saga: Bollywood Buzz

In February 2026, G P Vijayakumar, the Managing Director of Seven Arts International, took legal action against well-known filmmaker Firoz A. Nadiadwallah concerning the production of Hera Pheri 3. Vijayakumar asserted that he holds the genuine rights to the franchise and doubts whether the sequel can be made without his consent. The situation became more complicated recently when Firoz A. Nadiadwallah filed a FIR for cheating and copyright infringement at Amboli Police Station in Mumbai on April 27, 2026.

According to reports, the FIR cites several legal provisions related to the claims made. The police have identified Vijayakumar and M Paul Michael, also known as Lal, as the accused in the case. Sources indicate that Nadiadwallah’s complaint is backed by substantial documentation, including agreements and financial records. He claims these documents confirm that he is the rightful sole owner of the Hera Pheri franchise and its related rights.

Legal experts suggest that this FIR will prompt an investigation into the history of rights, contracts, previous settlements, and financial transactions to assess any alleged misconduct.

About the Hera Pheri Series

The original Hera Pheri film premiered in 2000, quickly becoming a beloved classic for its unique storyline, humor, and strong performances. Its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, released in 2006, gained even more popularity and is widely celebrated in meme culture. The first film was directed by Priyadarshan, while the late Neeraj Vora directed the sequel, also contributing as a writer for the original.

This ongoing legal dispute underscores the complexities involved in film rights and franchise ownership, leaving fans eager for clarity on the future of the beloved series.
