Preity Zinta Praises Shreyas Iyer’s Leadership Skills

Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has shared her admiration for Shreyas Iyer, highlighting his impressive leadership and friendly nature. Since joining the team in 2025 for a significant sum of Rs 26.75 crore, Iyer has become a vital part of the PBKS family. Zinta regards Iyer as an “inspirational and strategic leader” who sets a positive example, showcasing a calm and thoughtful demeanor both on and off the pitch.

Zinta’s comments reflect Iyer’s rising profile as the captain of PBKS. He is recognized for bringing stability and clarity to the team, thanks in part to his approachable personality, which helps create a supportive atmosphere among players.

In a personal note, Zinta mentioned that her children have a special connection with Iyer, affectionately calling him “Shreyas Bhaiya.” This sentiment gives insight into Iyer’s warm individuality, extending beyond the cricket field.

On X (formerly Twitter), Zinta expressed, “He is an inspiring and strategic leader that leads by example. Intelligent, calm, inclusive, and accessible to the whole team. Moreover, he is wonderful with kids, which is why my children adore him and call him Shreyas Bhaiya.”

Shreyas Iyer Shines in IPL 2026

Shreyas Iyer has proven to be a standout player for Punjab Kings in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. So far, he has amassed around 279 runs in just seven matches, boasting an impressive average of nearly 69.75 and a strike rate close to 186.

Iyer’s consistent performances include scores of 50, 66, and an unbeaten 69 in consecutive innings, showcasing his ability to both stabilize the innings and increase the run rate when needed.

A remarkable highlight was his role in a historic run chase against Delhi Capitals, where he remained not out at 71. His efforts were crucial in leading Punjab Kings to achieve the highest successful run chase in T20 history.

Under Iyer’s captaincy, Punjab Kings remain unbeaten in the tournament, sitting at the top of the points table with 13 points and a net run rate of +1.333, having won six out of their first seven matches.
