Priyanka Chopra’s Special Cameo in Mira Nair’s Biopic “Amri”
Actor Priyanka Chopra has recently filmed a cameo for the much-anticipated biopic “Amri,” directed by the acclaimed Mira Nair. The film is based on the life of the celebrated painter Amrita Sher-Gil, and although details about the project have been kept under wraps, it is now known that Chopra’s role might be brief but impactful.
A source revealed that Priyanka was in India to complete her shoot after finishing another commitment. “The film will explore the life of the painter across Hungary, India, and France. Mira reached out to Priyanka last year for a specific role, and she managed to film it last week. After some work in Hyderabad for ‘Varanasi,’ she headed to Amritsar and filmed for two days,” the source explained.
As of now, neither Priyanka nor Mira’s production team has commented on the report.
This collaboration between Priyanka Chopra and Mira Nair has sparked a great deal of excitement among fans. Both have made significant marks in the industry, both in India and internationally, and come with a wealth of experience.
The lead role of Amrita Sher-Gil is played by actress Tanya Maniktala, who previously impressed Nair in the BBC series “A Suitable Boy.”
“Amri” aims to highlight the extraordinary life of Amrita Sher-Gil, who is known as one of the most important modern artists of the early 20th century. With a Hungarian mother and a Sikh father, her life journey took her across Europe and India, allowing her to create a distinctive artistic style that merged Western techniques with Indian themes.
Although her life was tragically cut short at the age of 28 in 1941, her works continue to resonate with artists today. She is celebrated for capturing the essence of everyday life, especially women’s experiences and rural communities, with emotional richness and striking visuals.
