Horse Powertrain Unveils New Hybrid V6 Engine Ahead of Beijing Auto Show 2026
Horse Powertrain, a leader in clean powertrain technology, has introduced the HORSE W30, a groundbreaking V6 engine that is set to make its debut at the Beijing Auto Show in 2026. This marks a significant milestone for the company as they apply their experience in smaller engine designs to the V6 category, resulting in the lightest V6 engine currently available.
The HORSE W30 features a 3-liter capacity and can be adapted for various vehicle types, either in a transverse or longitudinal layout. Its innovative design includes an angled arrangement of cylinder rows, which lowers the engine’s center of gravity, facilitating easier installation and improving catalytic converter efficiency.
With an impressive power output ranging from 350 to 400 kW and torque between 600 to 700 Nm, the engine can reach a maximum speed of 8,000 rpm. To enhance fuel efficiency, the HORSE W30 integrates exhaust manifolds and turbochargers directly onto the cylinder heads. Weighing in at just 160 kg, it is approximately 10 kg lighter than other V6 engines available today.
Aimed for use in both mild and full hybrid vehicles, the first model featuring the HORSE W30 is expected to hit the roads by 2028. The engine will also be showcased alongside the new HORSE 4LDHT four-speed hybrid transmission at the Beijing event.
The HORSE 4LDHT transmission itself weighs 199 kg and can be configured to optimize performance. It features a P1 motor to assist the engine and charge the vehicle’s battery, producing between 250-300 kW, and a P3 motor for driving, capable of generating 350-450 kW.
CEO Matias Giannini commented, “At Horse Powertrain, we see a chance to help automakers achieve greater efficiency by streamlining the powertrain production process. The HORSE W30 demonstrates our commitment to innovation and adaptation in the automotive industry, particularly for hybrid vehicle solutions.”
Chief Technology Officer Fortune Zhao added, “The HORSE W30 is a testament to our engineering capabilities and marks our entry into the V6 engine market. It is designed to deliver top-notch performance while remaining lightweight and compact, showcasing our flexibility in providing advanced hybrid technologies across various markets.”
