Jio Studios and Collective Studios’ Historyverse recently premiered the first teaser for Krishna, an exciting upcoming movie directed by Manu Anand, at the NAB Show 2026 in Las Vegas. This film marks a significant step forward in filmmaking technology, utilizing an innovative AI pipeline created by Galleri5, an in-house platform from Collective Artists Network. This collaboration combines advanced technology with Jio Studios’ vast experience in storytelling, aiming to deliver rich Indian content to a global audience.

The teaser and Galleri5’s AI technology were showcased in Microsoft’s keynote titled “Powering Intelligent Media; From AI Experimentation to Real-World Impact.” Collective was highlighted as a pioneering organization that is actively moving AI from theory into practical use in filmmaking. Visitors can also see this technology at Microsoft’s booth at the show.

Krishna aims to shift away from traditional VFX and animation styles, focusing instead on an AI-driven production approach. This method integrates technology into various stages of filmmaking, from creating characters to final editing, while keeping a director-focused storytelling style at its heart. The film seeks to balance grand visuals with deep emotional storytelling, emphasizing music, performance, and authenticity.

The advanced workflows powered by Galleri5 enable filmmakers to create large-format, theatrical experiences rooted in Indian culture and history. By leveraging Microsoft Azure’s capabilities, Galleri5 allows creators to enhance their projects, making the filmmaking process more efficient and accessible.

Jyoti Deshpande, President of Jio Studios, expressed excitement about using cutting-edge AI in storytelling. She emphasized the studio’s goal to share Indian tales with the world authentically while democratizing technology for creators. This way, diverse voices can tell compelling stories that resonate with audiences everywhere.

Vijay Subramaniam, Founder and CEO of Collective Artists Network, shared his vision of utilizing technology developed in India to present the country’s rich culture and history to a wider audience. He sees this project as part of a broader movement to share narratives deeply connected to Indian identity on an international scale.

Silvia Candiani from Microsoft highlighted the transformative role of AI in the media industry, emphasizing its significance not just as a tool for experimentation but as a way to produce notable results at scale. She noted that the collaboration enables a seamless flow of production, enhancing creative processes, and maintaining a focus on human creativity.

Krishna is expected to be part of Collective Studios’ growing lineup of history-inspired content, showcasing stories steeped in Indian mythology. This ambitious project draws inspiration from pivotal characters and traditions that have shaped India’s narrative over centuries.

Jio Studios has established itself as a leader in the Indian film industry, known for delivering blockbuster hits and creative storytelling. With a remarkable track record, including some of the highest-grossing films in recent years, the studio continues to push boundaries, aiming to present compelling narratives to a global audience.

The unveiling at the NAB Show highlights Jio Studios and Collective Studios’ commitment to innovation, creativity, and leveraging technology to enrich the art of storytelling.
