Dubai Airports Set to Restart Select Flights This Monday Evening: Official Announcement

Dubai Airports to Resume Limited Flights Amid Ongoing Tensions

Dubai: Dubai Airports has announced that limited flights will start again on Monday evening, following a three-day suspension caused by recent Iranian military activity targeting the Gulf area, including airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

In a statement, Dubai Airports confirmed that service will resume from both Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) beginning Monday evening. Airlines Emirates and low-cost carrier flydubai have stated they will offer some flights later today, while Etihad Airways from Abu Dhabi plans to restart operations on Tuesday.

Recent missile strikes by Iran have not only targeted military facilities but have also impacted civilian structures, including residential areas, hotels, airports, and seaports. This escalation of hostilities has caused concern in a region that has generally been viewed as a safe haven from conflict.

Since the Iranian attacks began on Saturday, several airports in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, and Manama have faced threats. Tragically, reports indicate one death occurred in Abu Dhabi related to the missile strikes.

As a precaution, the UAE had previously declared a temporary and partial closure of its airspace. Notably, Dubai International Airport (DXB) is recognized as the second-busiest airport in the world, trailing only Atlanta, according to Airports Council International.

These disruptions are significant given that the aviation industry plays a crucial role in Dubai’s economy, contributing about a third of the emirate’s overall economic activity.
