US Military Reports Casualties in Operation Against Iran

WASHINGTON: On Sunday, the US military announced that three service members lost their lives and five others were seriously injured during operations against Iran. This marks the first time the US has reported casualties in this conflict.

The situation escalated over the weekend as the United States conducted extensive airstrikes against Iran, resulting in the death of its supreme leader. Attacks have continued into Sunday.

According to a statement from US Central Command (CENTCOM), “Three U.S. service members have been killed in action, and five are seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury. Several more sustained minor injuries and are returning to duty.”

Major combat operations are still ongoing, and CENTCOM has indicated that more information regarding the fallen service members will be released after notifying their families.

US air and naval forces, along with the Israeli military, are actively engaged in heavy bombardments of Iranian targets. President Donald Trump has stated that the primary aim is to dismantle Iran’s military capabilities.

In retaliation, Iran has launched missiles targeting Israel and US military installations in the region. Earlier on Sunday, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed to have struck the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier in the Gulf with four ballistic missiles. However, CENTCOM refuted this claim, stating that the carrier was not hit and remains operational, launching aircraft to support ongoing operations aimed at protecting American interests.

The situation remains dynamic, and updates will continue as more information becomes available.
