DUBAI: UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan had a meeting with U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi. In a post on social media, Graham spoke out against what he called “false narratives” circulating about the UAE and its leader.

This week, there was increased speculation about Sheikh Mohammed’s health after Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan postponed a visit to Abu Dhabi. His office also shared, then quickly removed, a post suggesting that the Emirati leader was facing health issues.

In his post on Wednesday, Graham shared that he spent an hour and a half with Sheikh Mohammed, firmly pushing back against those spreading misinformation about the UAE and its president, labeling them as “full of it.”

Amid a growing divide between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi has come under closer scrutiny. Some prominent voices in Saudi Arabia have stepped up their criticism, accusing the UAE of contributing to regional instability and often targeting Sheikh Mohammed personally in their comments.

The meeting between Graham and Sheikh Mohammed took place at Qasr Al Shati, as reported by the UAE’s WAM news agency, which also shared photos and videos of the discussions. According to WAM, the two leaders talked about important regional issues and their joint efforts to promote peace in the Middle East.
