Shoaib Akhtar Slams Pakistan’s Performance After India’s Dominance in T20 World Cup: Calls It a ‘National Shame’

Shoaib Akhtar Criticizes Pakistan Cricket Board After Defeat to India

Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar didn’t hold back on his criticism of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following the team’s disappointing 61-run loss to India in the T20 World Cup group stage. The match took place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, and Akhtar’s comments were notably pointed towards PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

In an interview with ABP News, Akhtar expressed his frustration about how the PCB is managing the national team. He specifically highlighted the ongoing support for senior players who have not performed well when it truly counts. Stars like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Shadab Khan had lackluster performances against India, leading many to question why they still enjoy such unwavering backing.

Akhtar’s Concerns About Leadership

Akhtar didn’t shy away from direct criticism of Naqvi, questioning his ability to lead Pakistan cricket effectively. “One person doesn’t even seem to know he’s the chairman of the PCB. How can the team succeed under such leadership? You’ve made someone a star, but he hasn’t won a single match,” Akhtar remarked. He emphasized that appointing individuals lacking the necessary skills leads to ongoing problems.

The Risk of Incompetence

The former fast bowler warned about appointing unqualified individuals to influential positions, suggesting that this could have serious repercussions. “When you put someone incompetent in a major role, they’ll only create chaos. It’s clear as day,” he added.

Pakistan’s struggles against India have raised alarms among fans and cricket experts alike, who are demanding accountability from both the board and the players. The national team’s repeated failures in high-pressure situations have made the need for change more urgent than ever.

In the shadow of these challenges, Naqvi’s leadership has often appeared more focused on maintaining appearances rather than actual progress. His tenure has been marked by moments that prioritize show over substance, such as his dramatic actions surrounding the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup announcements.

As the cricketing world watches, the PCB and its players face mounting pressure to turn things around and deliver results that fans expect.
