India Celebrates World Hindi Day in Kuwait
KUWAIT: The Embassy of India in Kuwait marked the occasion of “World Hindi Day” on January 10, 2026, in its auditorium. The event attracted over 350 attendees, including teachers and students from all 25 Indian CBSE schools in Kuwait, along with friends of India who have a keen interest in the Hindi language. This celebration highlighted the increasing love for Hindi and Indian culture among the Indian community in Kuwait, which numbers more than one million.
In the lead-up to World Hindi Day, Hindi recitation competitions were conducted for students in three age groups across the CBSE schools. The winners were invited to showcase their talents at the embassy during the celebration.
Faculty members also participated by sharing beautiful renditions of Hindi poems. During the event, Ambassador Paramita Tripathi expressed her gratitude to everyone involved, referencing a message from Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi that emphasized the significance of Hindi.
Ambassador Tripathi also recognized four Kuwaiti citizens—Mubarak Rashed Al-Azmi (singer), Saad Dhaher Saadoun Al-Rasheedi (former National Guard officer), Eman Hussain Ali Alkout (Chess Federation member), and Salah A M Khalaf (businessman)—for their outstanding knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Hindi language.
World Hindi Day, celebrated every year on January 10, aims to encourage the use of Hindi, which is spoken by millions around the globe. This day serves to raise awareness about the language’s cultural and historical significance. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait plays a crucial role in promoting Hindi through various activities and events throughout the year, such as competitions, workshops, and cultural programs, fostering a deeper appreciation of the language within both local communities and the Indian diaspora.
