Dabang Delhi K.C. Wins Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 Championship

Dabang Delhi K.C. triumphed in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12, securing a thrilling 31–28 victory over Puneri Paltan in the final held at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium. This victory marks a historic achievement, as Dabang Delhi is the first team since U Mumba (Season 2) to win the championship on home turf.

This season has been one of the most competitive in PKL history, filled with excitement and remarkable milestones. Even when star player Ashu Malik was unable to play, Delhi relied on their strong team depth and consistent performance. Puneri Paltan, who topped the league table, showed great resilience as they finished as runners-up.

Throughout the season, nearly half of the 117 matches were closely contested, with 53 games decided by five points or less. Fans witnessed 14 matches go to tiebreakers or be decided in the final moments, and more than 20 players achieved over 20 raid points in a single match, setting a new league record. Among the season’s highlights were eight dramatic comebacks of 10 points or more, including Patna Pirates recovering from a 12-point deficit against Dabang Delhi, as well as the league’s first-ever Golden Raid during a match between Delhi and Pune.

In individual achievements, Ayan Lohchab from Patna Pirates made history by becoming the fifth player to surpass 300 raid points in a single season, finishing with an impressive 316. Devank also set records, becoming the fastest player to hit both 500 career raid points and to reach 200 raid points in a season. Coach Manpreet Singh celebrated becoming the first to achieve 100 wins in PKL, while Fazel Atrachali from Dabang Delhi, named Most Valuable Player (MVP), crossed the impressive milestone of 550 career tackle points.

International talent flourished this season, with Iranian player Alireza Mirzaian setting a record for foreign players by scoring 191 raid points, and teammate Ali Samadi shining with a notable 22-point performance against Puneri Paltan. The number of foreign players scoring over 100 points doubled from the previous season, enhancing the league’s appeal.

Significant Team Milestones

Several teams reached important milestones during this season. The Telugu Titans accomplished their first five consecutive wins, whereas the Haryana Steelers faced their first five-match losing streak. Patna Pirates celebrated the largest victory of the season, defeating Dabang Delhi by 35 points in Match 105. Both Bengaluru Bulls and Dabang Delhi also marked their 100th overall wins in the league’s history, showcasing their long-standing competitiveness. Remarkably, the quickest all-out occurred in just 2 minutes and 53 seconds in a match between Puneri Paltan and Jaipur.

Dabang Delhi’s championship run was led by Ashu Malik and Fazel Atrachali, who emphasized the importance of teamwork and composure throughout the competition. Joginder Narwal made history as only the second individual to win the title as both a player and a coach, highlighting the organization’s growth and adaptability.

Despite their loss in the final, Puneri Paltan, which had finished strong at the top of the league, garnered praise for their consistent and effective performances.
