Latest Updates in Trade and Judiciary

India has seen a notable decline in its goods exports to the United States, dropping by 12% in September compared to the same month last year. Despite this downturn, total exports rose by 6.74%, supported primarily by increased shipments to the UAE and China. However, a significant rise in imports of gold, silver, and fertilizers has inflated the trade deficit to $31.15 billion, marking the highest level in over a year, according to a report from the Commerce and Industry Ministry.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned in a press briefing that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has committed to halting oil purchases from Russia. Trump labeled this decision as a crucial move to help financially isolate Moscow.

On another note, the Supreme Court collegium, led by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai, made a rare announcement stating it has revised its earlier recommendation regarding the transfer of a judge. Initially, on August 25, the collegium suggested transferring Madhya Pradesh High Court judge, Justice Atul Sreedharan, to the Chhattisgarh High Court following the government’s request for reconsideration.

Stay tuned for more updates as they unfold.
