The Supreme Court has turned down a petition from actress Jacqueline Fernandez regarding a significant fraud case involving conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. This decision was made on Monday and means Jacqueline will not receive any relief in the matter. The actress had appealed against a July 3 ruling by the Delhi High Court, which rejected her request to dismiss the FIR filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) related to money laundering.

In her petition, Jacqueline argued that she was a victim of Sukesh’s schemes. She pointed out that officials at Tihar jail allowed Sukesh to use mobile phones and other devices, which he allegedly exploited to defraud not just the complainant but also several individuals in the film industry, including her.

Jacqueline, known for her roles in films like Murder 2 and Kick, emphasized that she serves as a prosecution witness in this case and believes the proceedings against her should be dropped. However, the Delhi High Court ruled that any questions regarding her awareness or involvement in the alleged crime could only be determined during the trial.

The ED has alleged that Jacqueline received luxury gifts worth about Rs 7 crores from Sukesh, claiming these were part of the illicit earnings from the Rs 200 crores fraud. Sukesh is accused of deceiving Shivinder and Malvinder Singh, former promoters of Ranbaxy, out of a substantial amount, and is also believed to have conned various prominent figures while incarcerated.

With the Supreme Court dismissing her plea, Jacqueline must now face trial in the money laundering case, where her intent and knowledge will be closely scrutinized.
