Draymond Green Discusses Controversial Moments in His Career on Live Stream

Draymond Green, forward for the Golden State Warriors, took some time to share his thoughts on two of the most debated moments in his basketball career during a recent live stream with popular gamer Kai Cenat. The focal points of their discussion were incidents involving players Domantas Sabonis and LeBron James, where Green stood firm on his choices, citing the circumstances he faced.

The latest incident occurred during a playoff game against the Sacramento Kings when Green stepped onto Sabonis’ chest. This action led to significant criticism, and Green faced a suspension for one game. During the stream, Cenat prompted Green to explain his side. Green highlighted that Sabonis was gripping his ankle while on the ground, a detail he believes many viewers may have overlooked.

“Why is he holding on to my ankle? That’s just wild. They don’t want you to see that part,” Green said, emphasizing his reasoning behind the incident. He further explained that when someone is holding your leg while you’re trying to get up, you need to find a way to break free, saying simply, “You gotta get him back.”

Reflecting on the 2016 Incident with LeBron James

Green also touched on a past altercation with four-time NBA Champion, LeBron James, which similarly led to a suspension. During the 2016 NBA Finals, Green was suspended from Game 5 following an incident where James stepped over him while he was down. In the process, Green’s hand accidentally made contact with James.

Looking back, Green recalled how his actions were viewed negatively but remained confident in his response. He pointed out that anyone in his position would react similarly if a player placed a leg over their shoulder while they were trying to get up. He asserted, “If you fall down and someone puts their leg on top of you, what are you gonna do? I wouldn’t want my son to think that’s okay.”

After these incidents, discussions within the NBA community became quite heated, especially regarding the Sabonis situation. NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal even voiced his support for Green, stating, “I’m not gonna sit up here and be a hypocrite. I would have done the same thing.”

Despite the passage of time, Green has continued to play with the same intensity. As of May 2025, he has accumulated over 200 technical fouls and faced six suspensions throughout his career.
