Kajol is returning to her role as lawyer Noyonika Sengupta in the upcoming second season of “The Trial: Pyaar. Kaanoon. Dhokha,” which will be available for streaming on JioHotstar starting September 19, 2025. Directed by Umesh Bist and produced by Banijay Asia, this season promises to deliver more courtroom excitement and personal conflicts, raising the stakes for its characters.
In this new installment, Noyonika encounters not only tough legal challenges but also personal issues that will put her relationships to the test. Kajol’s character is described as “fiercer, sharper, and emotionally charged,” navigating the difficult balance between love, ambition, and truth.
Director Umesh Bist has noted similarities between “The Trial” and his earlier film “Pagglait.” He explained, “I’m drawn to stories focused on characters in complex situations that allow for an exploration of emotions. Both works showcase strong women with unique perspectives, which naturally leads to challenges.” He acknowledged that while “Pagglait” is a standalone film and “The Trial” is a six-episode series, the essence of storytelling remains similar.
The series uses courtroom cases to dive into broader themes of morality, trust, and betrayal. Joining Kajol in the cast are Karanvir Sharma, Jisshu Sengupta, Kubbra Sait, Sheeba Chaddha, Sonali Kulkarni, Gaurav Pandey, and Alyy Khan.
Don’t miss “The Trial: Pyaar. Kaanoon. Dhokha Season 2,” streaming from September 19, 2025, on JioHotstar.
