Aamir Khan made an exciting announcement today in Mumbai. He revealed that his new hit movie, Sitaare Zameen Par, will be available on YouTube for viewers to rent. The cost to rent the film is set at Rs. 100. However, he clarified that viewers won’t be able to purchase the movie for permanent access.

Aamir explained, “When you rent Sitaare Zameen Par, it will remain in your account for 30 days. After you start playing the film, you will have 48 hours to finish watching it.”

When asked if there would be an option to buy the film outright, Aamir shared, “We considered that option but felt it was better to take things step by step. This is a new venture for us. For now, we will offer only the rental option and see how it goes before considering other formats.”

He also shared plans for his new platform, Aamir Khan Talkies, where viewers can access various films from Aamir Khan Productions, including popular titles like Lagaan and Dangal. Initially, Sitaare Zameen Par will be available on August 1, with more films added a week later.

Aamir mentioned, “Aamir Khan Talkies will feature both free content and pay-per-view movies. I’m also interested in sharing episodes of my TV show Satyamev Jayate for free.”

Additionally, Aamir expressed his desire to support new and emerging filmmakers. He stated that if young filmmakers have completed films that haven’t found distribution, they can reach out to him, and Aamir Khan Talkies would consider showcasing their work. Most of the profit from such films would go to the filmmakers, with a small fee retained by his production company.

Looking ahead, Aamir commented, “In the future, my plan is to first release films in theaters. Once their theatrical run is finished, I will offer them on YouTube as rentals.”

This initiative promises to make Aamir Khan’s films more accessible to audiences while also providing a platform for new talent.
