Wimbledon 2025 Highlights: Early Upsets and Strong Performances

Jasmine Paolini, the runner-up from last year’s tournament, faced an unexpected exit from Wimbledon 2025. She lost in a tough match against Kamilla Rakhimova, ranked World No.62. Although Paolini took the first set, Rakhimova made a remarkable comeback, winning the match 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 after two hours and 19 minutes of intense play.

In a crucial moment at 4-5 and 0-40, Paolini saved three match points but couldn’t handle the fourth, allowing Rakhimova to advance to her first Round 3 at Wimbledon. With Paolini’s departure, Aryna Sabalenka stands as the only top-five seed left in the women’s draw.

In another match, Carlos Alcaraz showcased his talent against Oliver Tarvet on Centre Court, winning comfortably with scores of 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. The five-time Grand Slam champion will now meet the winner of the match between Felix Auger-Aliassime from Canada and Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff.

Wimbledon 2025 Day 3 Updates

On Centre Court, 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu delivered an impressive performance, defeating Marketa Vondrousova, the 2023 Wimbledon champion, 6-3, 6-3 in just 82 minutes. Raducanu now faces the challenging task of competing against World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka, who beat Marie Bouzkova in straight sets during her second-round match. Raducanu is looking to turn the tables after losing to Sabalenka in their only previous matchup at Indian Wells last year.

“Honestly, there’s no pressure on me going into the next round,” Raducanu commented about her upcoming challenge.

In other news, Katerina Siniakova, who eliminated Qinwen Zheng in the first round, was also knocked out by four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, with a score of 6-3, 6-2. Additionally, the 30th seed Linda Noskova managed to win against Germany’s Eva Lys 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. Noskova is set to face Rakhimova next, who will be riding high on confidence after her victory over Paolini.

Stay tuned for more updates as the tournament unfolds!
