Wimbledon 2025: Bopanna and Gille Knocked Out, Bhambri Advances
In a surprising turn at Wimbledon 2025, India’s Rohan Bopanna and Belgium’s Sander Gille were eliminated from the men’s doubles tournament. On Wednesday, July 2, the duo faced a tough match against the German team of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz. The match concluded in just over an hour, with the Germans winning 6-3, 6-4.
On a brighter note for India, Yuki Bhambri and Robert Galloway moved on to the second round of men’s doubles. They had a hard-fought victory over the French pair of Manuel Guinard and Romain Arneodo, managing to win 7-6 (8), 6-4 in a match lasting one hour and 49 minutes.

Next up for Bhambri and Galloway is a clash against the winners of the match between Robin Haase & Jean-Julien Rojer and Nuno Borges & Marcus Giron.
Additionally, Bhambri will team up with China’s Xinyu Jiang in the mixed doubles. They are set to face the American pair of Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Christian Harrison in their opening match.
Another Indian player, Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli, alongside Colombia’s Nicolas Barrientos, showed impressive resilience in their first-round match. They saved four match points to triumph over France’s Alexandre Muller and Belgium’s David Goffin, winning 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (11).
Looking ahead, Bollipalli and Barrientos will play against the winners from the match between Joe Salisbury & Neal Skupski and Charles Broom & Joshua Paris in the next round.
Indian player N. Sriram Balaji is set to compete on Thursday, July 3. He will team up with Mexico’s Miguel Reyes-Varela to take on Aleksandar Kovacevic and Learner Tien in their first-round match.
