Copyright Controversy Surrounds Housefull 5 Teaser

On May 9, YouTube removed the teaser for the highly anticipated film Housefull 5 due to a copyright dispute involving Mofusion Studios. Fans were met with a notice that the video was no longer available.

In a recent development, Yo Yo Honey Singh has confirmed that he is the sole owner of the rights to the song "Laal Pari," which features in the teaser. Following this, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has launched a ₹25 crore defamation lawsuit against both Mofusion Studios and YouTube.

According to sources, the controversy erupted when "Laal Pari" was included in the teaser. While Mofusion Studios claimed to hold rights to the song, Honey Singh provided written proof to Nadiadwala, supporting his ownership.

Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, a well-known name in the Indian film industry, felt that the removal of their teaser without prior notice was unjust. They emphasized that YouTube should have verified the situation given their reputation and large subscriber base.

Legal notices were served to both YouTube and Mofusion Studios on May 12, demanding an immediate reinstatement of the teaser, or else the payment of damages amounting to ₹25 crores.

Housefull 5 features a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, and many others. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the film is set to hit theaters on Bakri Eid, June 6, 2025.
