Chennai Super Kings Players Return Home Amid IPL Suspension

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stars Ravindra Jadeja and Urvil Patel are heading back home after the IPL 2025 season was paused for a week. This decision comes in light of rising tensions between India and Pakistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) called for the suspension after a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala was interrupted by air raid alerts nearby.

Urvil, who joined CSK as a replacement for injured player Vansh Bedi, shared a photo on his Instagram story with Jadeja, showcasing their journey back home from the Chennai camp.

CSK hasn’t had the best season, currently sitting at the bottom of the points table. However, their last match before the suspension saw them secure a victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), with Urvil making a significant contribution by scoring 31 runs off just 11 balls. Jadeja also played well, scoring 19 runs and taking one wicket. So far, in 12 matches, Jadeja has taken 8 wickets and scored a total of 279 runs. CSK has two matches left to play, against Rajasthan Royals in Chennai and Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, before the season concludes.

BCCI Confirms One-Week IPL Suspension

The BCCI has announced that the IPL will be on hold for one week, promising to provide more details on the new schedule and venues soon. Their statement read, "The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remainder of ongoing TATA IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week. Updates regarding the new schedule and venues will be given after assessing the situation further."

The decision to pause the IPL was made during a meeting among senior BCCI officials, including IPL chairman Arun Dhumal. All franchises were notified ahead of the official announcement. As a result, teams have started to disband, with players and staff booking their flights out of India or to different locations within the country.
