Alcoa Corporation Announces New Chairman Appointment

Alcoa Corporation has appointed Thomas J. Gorman as its new non-executive Chairman of the Board, effective May 8, 2025. This change will take place right after the Company’s 2025 Annual Meeting of Stockholders. Gorman, who has been on the Board as an independent director since May 2021, will take over from Steven W. Williams, who is stepping down after more than eight years of service.

Williams has been with Alcoa since it became a public company in 2016 and served as Chairman since January 2021. In expressing gratitude towards Williams, Bill Oplinger, the Company’s President and CEO, said, “On behalf of the Board, I sincerely thank Steve for his service and contributions to Alcoa. He has provided valuable guidance, and we plan to build on his legacy as we move forward.”

Gorman brings over 35 years of extensive global business experience to his new role. Oplinger noted that Gorman’s leadership and strategic insight from his time with top companies will greatly benefit Alcoa as it strives to achieve its goals.

Previously, Gorman was the Chair of the People and Compensation Committee and served on the Governance and Nominating Committee. He held the position of CEO at Brambles Ltd., a major global supply chain logistics company, from 2008 until his retirement in 2017. Before that, he had a long career at Ford Motor Company, including a role as President of Ford Australia.

Expressing his excitement about the new position, Gorman stated, “I am honored to be appointed as Chairman of the Alcoa Board. I look forward to working closely with my fellow directors, CEO Bill Oplinger, and the entire leadership team to strengthen the Company’s position as a leading aluminum producer.”
