NewHydrogen Completes Important Step in Clean Hydrogen Production
SANTA CLARITA, CA, Oct. 19, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – NewHydrogen, Inc. (OTCQB: NEWH) has announced a significant advancement in its clean hydrogen technology, ThermoLoop®. The company successfully built and launched its Engineering Test Unit (ETU), which is designed to demonstrate the long-term stability of the ThermoLoop process.
The main goal of this new ETU is to gather essential engineering data that will help design the company’s first commercial pilot plant. This state-of-the-art facility enables continuous cycling between key chemical reactions that produce hydrogen and ultimately oxygen.
Ryan Patrick, Senior Chemical Engineer at NewHydrogen, emphasized the importance of the ETU, stating, “Continuous operation allows us to see how the process behaves over time. The data we gather will be crucial for designing our first commercial pilot plant.”
This ETU plays a vital role in transitioning from laboratory-level experiments to a fully functioning commercial pilot plant. It helps clarify how well the ThermoLoop performs under steady, repeatable conditions.
NewHydrogen has automated the controls of the ETU, which will enhance testing accuracy and consistency. With the construction phase now complete, the company plans to utilize the data collected from the ETU’s long-duration operations to outline the specifications of its first commercial pilot plant. The success of this pilot plant will lay the groundwork for a large-scale ThermoLoop facility that aims to meet rising demands in the clean hydrogen sector.
Growing Demand for Clean Hydrogen
The demand for clean hydrogen is rapidly increasing. Currently, this demand translates to hundreds of gigawatts, making it essential for developments in cleaner energy sources. The NewHydrogen system envisions a production capacity of 200,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually, comparable to a major electrolysis plant or a large steam methane reforming facility.
This growing market largely relies on fossil fuels, such as natural gas; however, NewHydrogen’s innovative approach leverages heat to safely separate water into hydrogen, ensuring a more sustainable process.
Steve Hill, CEO of NewHydrogen, noted, “Our ETU is the foundation for everything that will follow. Now that it is operational, we can continually run ThermoLoop and validate the stability of our process, which will inform the creation of our pilot plant. From there, we can scale up to meet the urgent needs of the market.”
As the need for clean hydrogen grows, NewHydrogen focuses on revolutionizing hydrogen production, aiming to decrease reliance on traditional, polluting methods while paving the way for a cleaner, more sustainable future.
