KAPSARC to Play Key Role in 25th WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 10, 2026 — The King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) is set to be a National Partner at the 25th World Petroleum Congress (WPC), which will be taking place in Riyadh from October 11 to 15, 2026. This marks the first time the congress is hosted in Saudi Arabia, and the theme for this year’s event is “Pathways to an Energy Future for All.”
Since its inception in London in 1933, the World Petroleum Congress has been a significant gathering of global leaders in the energy sector, including government officials, business executives, policymakers, and researchers. This year’s congress will feature discussions on critical issues affecting the future of global energy, such as market security, technological advancements, and sustainability practices.
KAPSARC will contribute to various programs at the congress including Executive, Technical, and Special Programmes. Among its speakers are KAPSARC President Fahad Alajlan and Dr. Ghadah Alarifi, the Dean of the KAPSARC School of Public Policy.
Throughout the congress, KAPSARC experts will share insights on topics like energy supply and demand, natural gas usage, environmental governance, and the Circular Carbon Economy. They will also explore emerging trends in artificial intelligence and ways to achieve lower-emission pathways in the energy and petrochemical sectors.
One highlight from KAPSARC’s participation is a Knowledge Sprint session under the Special Programme called “Generative AI for Evidence-Based Oil Markets.” This session will delve into how artificial intelligence can enhance oil market analysis and inform policy research.
Additionally, KAPSARC will be involved in a World Café session focused on “Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies.” This discussion will bring together experts and policymakers to evaluate various carbon removal solutions, examining their economic and regulatory landscapes.
In the Synergy Programme, KAPSARC will discuss “Accelerating the Circular Carbon Economy Through Joint Action” and “AI Partnerships for Energy Innovation,” emphasizing the connection between energy, technology, and sustainability.
The KAPSARC pavilion at the congress will serve as a hub for visitors to engage with their research and explore critical issues. It will feature thematic areas, including Oil, Transportation, Clean Energy, and Artificial Intelligence, offering a comprehensive look at innovative research in the energy sector.
The KAPSARC School of Public Policy and the Saudi Energy Leaders Assembly will also be present at the pavilion, providing opportunities for education and leadership discussions.
