Vadodara: Prisoner Escapes from Hospital During Bathroom Visit
In an unusual incident, Mohsin Mindi, a detainee held under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organized Crime (GujCTOC) act, made a daring escape from the Sir Sayajirao General (SSG) Hospital on Saturday. This escape happened while he was supposedly being monitored by police guards during a visit to the restroom.
The escape set off an immediate search effort that included the Vadodara crime branch, police control branch, and local police. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the hospital in hopes of locating Mindi.
Mindi had been admitted to the hospital and placed in the M-4 ward on the fifth floor of the emergency building. Reports suggest that he was handcuffed to his bed for security. However, when he requested to use the washroom, the police guards allowed him to leave his restraints, which led to his escape.
Mindi is associated with the notorious Mindi gang based in Surat. He faces serious allegations, including murder, attempted murder, illegal weapon possession, extortion, and even confrontations with police. The police have invoked the GujCTOC act against the gang due to their involvement in organized crime.
Officials are now working diligently to recapture Mindi and bring him back into custody.
