DKV Mobility Launches New Tech Hub in Porto, Portugal
DKV Mobility is excited to announce the establishment of a new Tech Hub in Porto, Portugal. This initiative aims to tap into a broader talent pool of data and AI specialists to enhance the development of digital products and services that focus on refueling, charging, and fleet management.
As part of this major tech initiative, DKV Mobility plans to recruit several hundred IT, Data, and AI engineers throughout Europe in the upcoming years. Initially, the company will collaborate with Capgemini during the setup phase, with the first engineers already joining the team. By the end of 2026, the goal is to fill about 50 positions, increasing to approximately 150 employees by the end of 2027 when the new team will fully integrate into DKV Mobility.
The mobility industry is evolving quickly. With the rise in electrification, fleet diversity is increasing, and fleet operators are looking for comprehensive digital solutions instead of separate products. Utilizing data and AI effectively across the entire customer value chain is becoming crucial for success. The new Tech Hub in Porto will enhance DKV Mobility’s capabilities to meet these demands and quickly turn innovations into market-ready solutions, thereby unlocking significant growth opportunities, especially in the e-mobility sector.
Sebastian Klauke, CEO of DKV Mobility, shared his vision by stating, “We are playing an active role in transforming the mobility market with digital solutions that respond to our customers’ needs. To achieve this, we require technical strength and the ability to turn data into real benefits. The Tech Hub in Porto is vital for speeding up our development and delivery processes.”
Porto is recognized as one of Europe’s most vibrant tech hotspots, boasting prestigious universities, a burgeoning tech community, and a presence of various international technology companies. The city was chosen for this project primarily because it offers high-quality data and AI talent.
Jesper Erichsen, Chief Technology and Operating Officer at DKV Mobility, added, “The race for top talent in data and AI is intense across Europe. Porto impressed us with its lively tech community that possesses the specific expertise we need. We aren’t just establishing a remote team in Porto but creating a genuine center of excellence that will collaborate closely with our teams in Ratingen and Bucharest to enhance our products for our customers.”
The Tech Hub will operate as a core part of DKV Mobility and will be integrated into the company’s development processes from the beginning. Porto will complement DKV Mobility’s existing tech locations in Ratingen and Bucharest, with no plans to shift jobs from these sites to Porto. Instead, the company is committed to continued investment in its current operations, including further hiring and opportunities for training and development.
