Smoke and flames were spotted near an Aramco facility in Riyadh on Saturday, according to a witness who spoke with Reuters.
As of now, Saudi authorities have not confirmed the details surrounding the fire, and Aramco has yet to respond to requests for information.
This incident occurs during a time of increasing conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi group, who have been ramping up their attacks on Saudi cities and energy sites.
At this point, there has been no claim of responsibility for the fire that occurred on Saturday. However, the Houthis mentioned last week that they had targeted Aramco facilities in Yanbu with missiles and drones. In response, Saudi Arabia stated that they intercepted six ballistic missiles aimed at Taif and Yanbu, but they did not report any damage to Aramco’s facilities.
