India Urges Nike to Invest: Commerce Minister Encourages Immediate Action

Washington: Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal recently sent a clear and straightforward message to Nike’s leadership regarding their investments in India: “Just do it.”

During his visit to Milwaukee for the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting, Goyal met with key Nike executives, including Chief Operating Officer Venkatesh Alagirisamy, Chief Legal Officer Rob Leinwand, and Chief Government & Public Affairs Officer Jorge Casimiro.

In a post shared on social media, Goyal emphasized the importance of investing in India’s growth. “When it comes to investing in India’s growth story, the message is simple: Just Do It,” he remarked.

The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for strengthening Nike’s long-term ties with India. Goyal noted that discussions included enhancing their manufacturing capabilities, increasing local sourcing, and expanding within the broader sports ecosystem.
