Mythic AI Expands Engineering Team in Bengaluru for AI Chip Development
Mythic AI has announced the opening of a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru to enhance the development of its innovative analogue AI chips. This initiative aims to strengthen engineering capabilities and expand product development efforts from India.
The company specializes in analogue compute-in-memory technology, which allows AI processing to take place directly within memory. This method reduces the need to transfer data between memory and processing units, leading to significant energy savings and improved efficiency for AI tasks.
The Bengaluru centre will act as a key hub for product development and innovation, focusing on various aspects of semiconductor design, including VLSI design, physical design, design-for-test (DFT), systems engineering, and applications engineering. The local team is already involved in the front-end design and verification of core technology, and they are working on hybrid designs and testing methods to comply with automotive standards.
Looking ahead, Mythic AI plans to significantly grow its engineering presence in India, with expectations to quadruple the size of the Bengaluru team by early 2027. The Indian operation will play a vital role in pre-silicon and post-silicon engineering, contributing to product development initiatives across the entire semiconductor portfolio.
Taner Ozcelik, chairman and CEO of Mythic AI, stated that Bengaluru is set to be central to the company’s growth plans. He emphasized, “India has a vast pool of semiconductor engineering talent and an evolving tech landscape, making Bengaluru a strategic location for us.” Ozcelik expressed his vision to build a top-notch AI chip development team that can handle significant areas of product development and tackle complex challenges in AI computing.
Future objectives for the Bengaluru centre include advancements in product engineering, testing, systems engineering, and the development of intelligent sensing chips.
Focus on Energy Efficiency in AI Inference
Mythic AI’s technology is particularly geared towards AI inference applications where power efficiency is crucial. Their flagship Vanguard platform merges analogue and digital computing in a compact architecture, aimed at various sectors, including advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), defense, robotics, enterprise AI, and data centers.
The company claims that this platform achieves up to 100 times more efficiency compared to traditional methods, with a single Vanguard rack delivering performance equivalent to that of 650 standard racks. The platform has also been tested for tactical-edge applications, thanks to a partnership with Lockheed Martin.
Mythic AI’s expansion comes at a time when semiconductor firms are increasing their investments in engineering and product development within India. Bengaluru stands as one of the top semiconductor design hubs in the country, with high demand for skilled professionals in chip design, testing, and systems engineering.
Manoj Kumar, Vice President of Mythic India, highlighted Bengaluru’s rich talent pool, stating, “To advance Mythic’s AI semiconductor development, we need exceptional performance in many engineering areas. I look forward to building a team that will achieve our vision for energy-efficient AI solutions.”
With the establishment of the new CoE, Mythic AI aims to enhance its influence in India’s semiconductor sector while positioning Bengaluru as a core location for developing next-generation AI technologies.
