New Website Launched to Support Families in Northern India
On September 24, the Northern Regional Family Commission of the Catholic Church in India unveiled a new website aimed at providing valuable resources and support for couples and families in the area. The official launch took place at Archbishop’s House in New Delhi, officiated by Archbishop Anil J. T. Couto. He was joined by Auxiliary Bishop Deepak Valerian Tauro, Fr. George Manimala, the commission’s regional executive secretary, along with other commission members and the website development team.
Archbishop Couto expressed excitement about the launch, explaining that the website is an important tool for families in our increasingly digital world. He emphasized that families are looking for genuine support and guidance and hopes the new website will act as a “sign of hope” for them on their journeys.
Bishop Tauro also praised the initiative, noting its user-friendly design and focus on pastoral care. He highlighted how this platform could effectively reach out to young people and families throughout the region.
A significant aspect of the website is its resources section, which was launched as part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation, Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love). This section is tailored to support couples at various stages of family life—whether they are preparing for marriage, in the early years of their union, navigating middle-age, or enjoying their later years.
The resources available include reflections, prayers, and educational materials aimed at helping couples strengthen their understanding of Christian marriage and embrace their family life vocation on a daily basis.
This initiative echoes Pope Francis’ vision of transforming the parish into a “family of families,” ensuring ongoing support for married couples and families beyond their initial sacramental preparations.
Additionally, the website plans to work closely with Catholic Connect Matrimony, a platform designed to assist young Catholic men and women who are looking for life partners within the faith.
Fr. Manimala expressed gratitude to Archbishop Couto for his backing and acknowledged the contributions of website designers Shubham and Kalpana Raymond for their dedication to creating the platform. He conveyed his hope that the website will grow into a vital pastoral resource for families and parishes across the Northern Region.
