Nani, Sonali Kulkarni, Raghav Juyal, and Kayadu Lohar recently gathered in Mumbai for a press conference regarding their upcoming film, The Paradise. On September 21, it was revealed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given the film an ‘A’ rating. During the event, Nani addressed questions about this rating and shared his thoughts.
Nani acknowledged that the adult certification means that some younger viewers will not be able to see the film. He expressed understanding of the reasons behind the rating, pointing out that there is noticeable violence in The Paradise. However, he emphasized that the film does not glorify violence for its own sake. “There are films that focus only on violence, but The Paradise is different. It’s a strong drama filled with emotion that everyone can relate to, regardless of age. Families can enjoy it together, but I must say that it contains a fair amount of violence that isn’t suitable for children,” he explained.
He further elaborated that the film addresses relatable themes and emotions and includes a love story. Despite the dramatic content, Nani believes that the film offers a well-rounded experience. He also confirmed that the filmmakers were prepared for the adult rating from the start of the production.
The Paradise is set to hit theaters on September 24.
In terms of content adjustments, the creators were instructed to modify certain visuals. For instance, scenes featuring a crow on the National Flag and a pregnant woman needed editing. Some language was muted in specific scenes, while violent content was reduced; ten violent scenes involving torture and bloodshed were removed altogether. Additionally, references to armed struggle and historical events were also altered or muted to meet the certification guidelines.
As the release date approaches, excitement is building for The Paradise, which promises to deliver an engaging cinematic experience.
