Amritsar Police Arrest Suspect in Major Drug Bust
In Amritsar, the counter-intelligence unit of the Punjab Police made a significant breakthrough on Friday, dismantling a suspected narcotics smuggling operation. Police arrested a man in possession of 10 kilograms of heroin, marking a notable success in the fight against drug trafficking.
Punjab’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, shared on social media that initial findings suggest the arrested individual was linked to an international smuggler. According to reports, he had been receiving shipments of heroin intended for distribution, following specific instructions from his contacts abroad.
Authorities have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the suspect at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar. As investigations continue, police are seeking to uncover more about the suspect’s connections, aiming to identify other individuals involved in the drug network and to unveil the broader cross-border supply chain.
Further inquiries are ongoing as law enforcement works to curb the ever-present threat of drug smuggling in the region.
