BREAKING: Nikhil Dwivedi’s Saffron Magicworks Wins Key Legal Battle Against IMPPA in Bombay High Court

The Bombay High Court has issued a temporary order concerning a case between Saffron Magicworks Private Limited and the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA). The ruling was made by Justice Arif S. Doctor on September 9, 2026, during an interim application related to a larger lawsuit.

During the court session, lawyers for both sides presented their arguments. The counsel representing Saffron Magicworks submitted a proposed amendment to the court, which was accepted. The court allowed for changes to be made to the submitted documents within a week.

The lawyer for IMPPA asked for additional time, indicating that he had just received instructions to appear that morning. He conveyed to the court that IMPPA would refrain from acting on a contentious ruling dated July 3, 2026, for two weeks starting from September 9. The court acknowledged this statement.

In addition, the Bombay High Court ordered that IMPPA cannot label Saffron Magicworks as a defaulter following the July 3 award until the court issues further orders.

The case has been scheduled for another hearing on September 30, 2026. This latest order offers temporary relief to Saffron Magicworks as the court prepares to examine the underlying issues in more detail. Notably, while this order provides immediate relief, it does not make a final decision on the dispute or invalidate the July 3 award.

The film industry will be closely monitoring the situation, especially given ongoing tensions involving IMPPA and other parties. The next important developments are anticipated during the upcoming court date at the end of September.
