Duolingo, the popular mobile learning platform, has launched a new course called “Learn English from Punjabi.” This initiative aims to help Punjabi speakers in India and around the world learn English more effectively. The course became available on September 7, 2026, on the Duolingo app.

Punjabi, spoken by over 100 million people globally, is one of the most widely used languages. It boasts vibrant communities in countries like India, Canada, the UK, the US, and Australia. Written in Gurumukhi script, Punjabi has a rich literary and cultural background. With this new course, learners can start their English studies directly from Gurumukhi, which can aid them in education, careers, and building global connections.

This new course is Duolingo’s second regional language offering for North India, following the introduction of Hindi. The platform now features a range of regional courses, which also include Bengali, Telugu, and Tamil.

Karandeep Singh Kapany, the Regional Marketing Director for India and Southeast Asia, expressed his pride in launching the course in his native language. He noted that Punjabis have always pursued opportunities beyond borders. By offering English learning in Punjabi, Duolingo aims to break down language barriers and open up new opportunities for learners.

In other news, Duolingo has partnered with Airtel to provide a 12-month Super Duolingo subscription at no extra cost to Airtel’s 376 million customers. This partnership will allow Airtel users to enjoy Duolingo’s premium features without advertisements, including unlimited learning energy, AI-powered speaking practice, custom exercises, and error reviews. The subscription will be available across mobile, Wi-Fi, and DTH services and can be accessed through the Airtel Thanks App without needing a credit card.

Language skills are becoming essential for education, job opportunities, and global engagement. The collaboration between Airtel and Duolingo is designed to enhance user experience by offering millions of people a fun and interactive way to develop their language skills and establish consistent learning habits.
