Navarro, who was seeded 26th, delivered a strong and steady performance, effectively countering Muchova’s powerful shots while provoking mistakes from her opponent. Muchova struggled with consistency, finishing the match with 18 winners but a hefty 32 unforced errors.
After losing the first set, Muchova had chances to turn the match around, but Navarro stayed in charge. In the seventh game, Navarro captured an important break, and despite Muchova’s efforts to respond, her mistakes allowed Navarro another key break late in the set.
The second set was more competitive, with both players trading breaks as Muchova sought to regain control. However, Navarro stayed focused, breaking Muchova in the 11th game after three attempts before serving out the match confidently.
This victory marked Navarro’s third win over a top-10 player in the current season, propelling her into the last 16 of her home Grand Slam. She made a remarkable run to the semifinals of the US Open in 2024, establishing herself as one of the tournament’s standout players.
