Shuchita Sonalika Becomes First COO of Canada-India Business Council
In a significant move, Shuchita Sonalika has been appointed as the first Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Canada-India Business Council (C-IBC). This announcement comes at a time when investment relations between Canada and India are growing stronger.
Sonalika is an experienced leader in international affairs, with nearly 18 years dedicated to boosting India’s economic partnerships across various regions, including North America and Europe. Previously, she worked as the Director and Head of North America for the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Washington, D.C., and also led CII’s operations in the United Kingdom.
Victor Thomas, the President and CEO of C-IBC, expressed his enthusiasm about Sonalika’s appointment, stating that it will significantly enhance the council’s capabilities and enable it to play a key role in the evolving economic relationship between the two nations.
Sonalika herself is excited about her new role, saying, “I look forward to collaborating with our board, members, and partners in Canada and India to unlock the immense potential of this partnership.”
She holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management and a Bachelor’s degree in General Business and Management from the University of Maryland, showcasing her solid educational background.
Craig Brown, Chair of the C-IBC Board, praised Sonalika for her unique combination of experience and understanding of India’s business landscape. He noted that her passion and leadership skills are vital for C-IBC as it aims to operate effectively in this promising economic climate.
The Canada-India Business Council, founded in 1982, is focused on enhancing economic ties between the two countries, working to create more opportunities for businesses and investors on both sides.
