New York: India’s Economic Growth Continues to Impress

India’s economy is thriving, with a reported GDP growth of 7.8% in the first quarter of the 2026-27 fiscal year. This performance reinforces India’s status as the fastest-growing large economy in the world, according to Indian Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Kwatra. He made this announcement while ringing the opening bell at Nasdaq in Times Square.

“India is experiencing a remarkable economic and technological evolution,” Kwatra noted. He attributed this growth to a vibrant entrepreneurial environment, advanced digital capabilities, and a youthful, skilled workforce.

Kwatra highlighted the importance of the latest GDP figures for the April to June quarter, affirming India’s leading position among large economies globally. He emphasized the growing collaboration between Indian and American companies, particularly in technology sectors, which includes investments in technological infrastructure and the mobility of skilled professionals.

As India aims for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, Kwatra expressed excitement about strengthening ties with American businesses and investors. He represented not just India, but also conveyed a message from Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who later joined him after attending a G20 finance ministers meeting in North Carolina.

Ringing the Nasdaq bell is not just a ritual; it symbolizes confidence in innovation and future partnerships, Kwatra explained. He expressed pride in celebrating the growing relationship between India and the USA with this ceremony.

In his post on social media platform X, Kwatra reflected on the significance of the event, stating it showcased the promise of the India-USA partnership and acknowledged the entrepreneurial spirit driving India’s transformative journey. He was joined at the event by Vishal Harsh, the Acting Consul General of India in New York, along with other officials.

This momentous occasion highlights both nations’ commitment to working together for a prosperous future.
