Sanjay Leela Bhansali is gearing up to start production on the long-awaited biopic of the legendary actress Madhubala this September. This news comes right after he finishes his current film, Love & War, featuring stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. Bhansali is scheduled to complete the final scenes of Love & War at Royal Palms in Goregaon by the end of August.
Reports indicate that the last song for Love & War will be filmed at Royal Palms next week. Once that shoot wraps up, the set will be transformed into the world of Madhubala for the upcoming biopic, with Sara Arjun leading in the role.
An insider from the film industry shared that the production team will start preparing the location right after finishing the Love & War schedule. The insider noted, “After the shoot for Love & War is done by the end of August, the Madhubala biopic’s design team will get to work on transforming the space. Filming is set to begin in September.”
This untitled biopic will be directed by Jasmeet K Reen, who is known for her recent film, Darlings (2022). The project faced delays in the past, reportedly due to financial issues. However, it picked up steam once Bhansali signed on as a producer.
Sara Arjun is already preparing for her portrayal of Madhubala. An insider mentioned, “Sara has begun her preparations. Jasmeet wants to portray Madhubala’s personality, her mannerisms, and the world she lived in.”
Sara, who recently gained recognition through the Dhurandhar franchise, played the lead role of Yalina Jamali, the love interest of Ranveer Singh’s character, Hamza Ali Mazari.
As Love & War nears its completion, attention is shifting toward Bhansali’s next venture, which aims to showcase the life and legacy of one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved stars, Madhubala.
