Sri Lankan Company Launches Groundbreaking Automated Coconut Dewatering System
In a remarkable development for the coconut processing industry, the Sri Lankan engineering and technology firm ISF has unveiled the world’s first fully automated coconut dewatering system. This innovative technology is set to boost productivity, lessen the need for manual labor, and improve operational efficiency—all while enhancing returns on investment for businesses in the sector.
The new system, designed and built by local engineers, automates a crucial process that has traditionally relied heavily on manual work. The launch event featured a live demonstration and was attended by the Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Chrishantha Abeysena, along with diplomats from key international markets, industry leaders, and members of the media. Guests had the chance to see the system in action and learn about its significant benefits for coconut processors.
ISF Director Anjula Sivakumaran expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “I am excited to have designed, tested, and launched this automated coconut dewatering system. Our clients in Indonesia and the Philippines are thrilled with this innovation, and we will soon be shipping one of these machines to the Philippines, where my engineering team will help with installation and provide ongoing support.”
Sivakumaran emphasized his goal of supporting regional and local businesses in automating their operations to compete on a global scale, all while showcasing Sri Lanka’s exceptional engineering talent. “By doing this, we can help our customers reach their business goals swiftly,” he added.
Beyond coconut dewatering, ISF is also working on technologies that cover the entire coconut processing value chain, including dehusking, deshelling, and paring. Sivakumaran highlighted the blend of engineering skills, automation, and artificial intelligence in creating solutions for complex business challenges. He reiterated the company’s commitment to investing in cutting-edge technologies through extensive research and development and collaboration with global partners.
