On Saturday, various embassies, including those of the United States, China, France, Germany, and Iran, offered their warm wishes to India as the country celebrated its 80th Independence Day. These greetings highlighted the strong relationships these nations share with India and praised its democratic values and diverse society.
Many ambassadors took to social media to express their congratulations. The US Embassy shared a heartfelt message, stating, “We extend our best wishes to our friends across India as you celebrate this special day. The historic relationship between the world’s largest democracy and the world’s oldest democracy is consequential and far-reaching. We look forward to strengthening the US-India partnership in the years ahead. Happy Independence Day, India!”
The High Commissioners from Australia, Bangladesh, and Singapore also joined in the celebration. The Bangladesh High Commission issued a message on social media, remembering the bravery of those who fought for freedom, saying, “#Bangladesh greets all men-women-children in #India as they celebrate eightieth #IndependenceDay.”
Australia’s High Commissioner, Philip Green, shared his wishes in Hindi and noted that the High Commission was decorated in Indian colors. He announced, “From all of us, a very Happy #IndependenceDay to Indians across the globe! #HarGharTiranga.”
At the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the country’s Independence Day festivities, surrounded by a lively atmosphere and tight security. Among the attendees was Xu Feihong, the Chinese Ambassador, who shared photos and congratulated India.
The German Ambassador-designate, Jasper Wieck, also wished Indians a happy Independence Day via a video message that emphasized peace and prosperity.
The French Embassy posted a video reflecting on India’s impact on those who call it home, sending warm wishes for the occasion. Similarly, both the Singapore High Commission and the Israeli Embassy conveyed their best wishes, recognizing the strong ties between India and their respective nations.
The Iranian Embassy expressed congratulations, highlighting the historic bonds between Iran and India, and expressed hopes for continued cooperation and friendship.
