Public Health Order Issued Due to Tuberculosis Case in ICE Detention Center

In response to a tuberculosis (TB) case reported at an immigration detention center, the Colorado Department of Health has issued a public health order. This action aims to protect the health and safety of individuals both inside the facility and in the surrounding community.

Officials discovered that a detainee at the center tested positive for TB, a contagious bacterial infection that primarily affects the lungs but can spread to other parts of the body. To prevent further transmission, health officials are taking proactive measures, including providing necessary screenings for other detainees and staff at the center.

The health department emphasizes the importance of early detection and treatment of TB. They are working closely with the detention center’s administration to ensure that appropriate health protocols are in place.

The public health order highlights the state’s commitment to monitor and control the spread of infectious diseases and ensure that all individuals in the facility receive proper medical care.

Authorities are encouraging anyone who may have been exposed to the infected individual to get tested and remain vigilant about their health. The department reassures the community that they are working diligently to address the situation and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
