Gamuda Recognized for Sustainable Leadership
PETALING JAYA: Gamuda Bhd has earned recognition for its commitment to sustainability, achieving two key milestones. The company was included in TIME and Statista’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2026 list and has reached the top tier of Bursa Malaysia’s FTSE4Good ESG Grading Band.
In a recent statement, Gamuda highlighted that it is the only Malaysian company honored in the Resource Generation and Infrastructure sector—a category that encompasses businesses related to utilities, heavy engineering, mining support, and raw material supply.
Ranked 239th worldwide, Gamuda was chosen from over 5,800 companies in 43 countries, with only 750 companies making the final cut. The ranking evaluates firms based on a wide array of sustainability criteria, such as environmental and social performance, corporate transparency, and adherence to globally recognized environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.
Gamuda’s listing among the foremost sustainable companies globally showcases the effectiveness of its sustainability practices and commitment to responsible development. The company aims to support long-term economic growth and benefits for communities.
In addition, Gamuda’s ESG rating improved to 3.7, placing it in the top four-star grading band on the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index. This rating is given to publicly listed companies in the top 25% according to an independent ESG assessment framework.
This enhancement in rating is attributed to stronger performance particularly in social and governance aspects, which boosts Gamuda’s competitiveness in securing sustainable financing and business opportunities tied to ESG initiatives.
