Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr. has officially squashed rumors about leaving Real Madrid by signing a new long-term deal with the club on Thursday, August 6. The young talent had been a target for Arsenal, who expressed interest in bringing him to the Premier League.
Vinicius Jr.’s new contract ties him to Real Madrid until June 30, 2032, securing his place in the club’s future plans. A statement from the club read, “Real Madrid CF and Vinicius Jr. have agreed to extend the contract of our player, who is now tied to the club until June 30, 2032.”
The extension comes after months of speculation about where the talented forward would end up. Initially, he was hesitant about a contract extension, leaving open the possibility of staying on with his current deal, moving to Arsenal, or re-signing with Real Madrid, according to reports.
The new agreement highlights Vinicius Jr.’s significance to the club and its future direction. Since joining from Flamengo in the summer of 2018, he has emerged as a crucial player for Real Madrid. In 375 appearances, he has scored 128 goals and provided 100 assists, playing a vital role in securing three La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies.
In the recent 2025-26 season, Vinicius managed to net 22 goals across various competitions. However, his contributions weren’t enough to clinch any trophies for Madrid, who finished second in La Liga, trailing behind Barcelona by eight points.
