Yashasvi Jaiswal Remembers Funny Moment with Rohit Sharma Before Test Series Against Sri Lanka

As India gears up for its Test series against Sri Lanka, young cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal is sharing a light-hearted memory involving former captain Rohit Sharma. During a recent training session, Jaiswal posted pictures on social media, but it was his playful caption that caught fans’ eyes.

He referred to a memorable incident from India’s tour of Australia, where Rohit had given him a humorous yet serious instruction. Jaiswal quoted him saying, “jab tak khelega nahi, tab tak uthneka nahi,” which translates to “don’t get up until the ball is played.”

This line harkens back to the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy when Jaiswal was at forward short leg. He had briefly stood up before Steve Smith finished his shot, prompting a quick response from Rohit. On the stump microphone, Rohit had humorously scolded him, asking, “Are you playing gully cricket? Stay down!”

The candid exchange went viral, bringing some light moments to India’s campaign in Australia. With this recent social media post, Jaiswal seems to have revived that comical memory just as India prepares for another crucial Test series.

The two-match series against Sri Lanka begins on August 15 in Galle, providing an excellent opportunity for the team, led by Shubman Gill, to build momentum. Jaiswal is expected to play a key role at the top of the batting order.

Since making his Test debut, Jaiswal has emerged as one of India’s most promising young talents. He has amassed 2,535 runs in 29 Tests, boasting an impressive average of 48.75, which includes seven centuries and 13 half-centuries. However, he will be looking to regain his consistency after some recent dips in form.

This Sri Lanka series could be vital for Jaiswal as he aims to rediscover his rhythm and strengthen his position in India’s Test batting lineup.
