India Summons Ukrainian Ambassador Over Attacks on Merchant Vessels
In response to recent attacks on merchant ships with Indian crew members, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has called in the Ukrainian ambassador, Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk.
This diplomatic action follows an alarming incident on Saturday when the MV AGN Ragnar, carrying four Indian sailors, was struck at the Port of Odesa. Odesa, a vital Black Sea port, has been frequently targeted since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022.
Just days prior, a tragic event unfolded when four Indian seafarers lost their lives due to a Russian attack on another commercial vessel, the MV Golden Leo. In light of these developments, the Russian chargé d’affaires, Vladimir Ladanov, was also summoned to the Indian external affairs ministry, as the Russian ambassador was not in New Delhi at that time.
As the situation continues to evolve, further updates are awaited.
