Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Shines as Youngest Player of the Series in Men’s International Cricket

At just 15 years old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has made history by becoming the youngest player to be awarded the Player of the Series in men’s international cricket. This achievement comes after his outstanding performance in India’s 3-0 T20I series victory over Zimbabwe in Harare.

Sooryavanshi was the highest run-scorer in the series, amassing a total of 151 runs over three games. His crowning moment was a brilliant 81 runs off 49 balls in the final match, helping India secure a 35-run win. He showed great adaptability, starting with a quick-fire 50 from just 18 balls in the first game and then settling in for a more composed innings in the deciding match on a slower pitch.

His consistent performance earned him the Player of the Series award, making him the youngest player ever to receive this honor in men’s international cricket. After the series, Sooryavanshi expressed his gratitude, stating, “I try to replicate what I do in training. I had good preparation after the England tour, and I’m glad to have contributed to the team’s success. It was my dream to achieve this for India.”

This award comes as a significant turnaround for the young cricketer, who faced challenges during his previous series in England just weeks prior. After becoming India’s youngest men’s international cricketer—taking over from Sachin Tendulkar—Sooryavanshi struggled at first, with scores of 14, 13, and 15 in the T20I series against England.

Despite these setbacks, the selectors believed in his potential and chose to include him in the Zimbabwe tour. The faith they showed in him paid off, as he excelled at the Harare Sports Club, where he had previously dazzled fans by scoring 175 runs off 80 balls in the Under-19 World Cup final.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s remarkable rise in international cricket continues, with his latest achievement highlighting his importance to the Indian team and marking him as one of its brightest young stars.
