New AI Hub Opening at Exeter Science Park

A technology company known for secure digital solutions is setting up a new facility at Exeter Science Park. The aim is to create a center focused on artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance cybersecurity and promote innovation.

Modern Networks, which provides connectivity, cybersecurity, and IT support to sectors like science, education, and commercial property, has chosen this location for its latest project. The company plans to use the site for creating and testing new technological advancements.

With a rich history dating back to 1999 and a team of 150 employees, Modern Networks offers managed IT services and high-speed connectivity through its own internet provider network. Their services help organizations collaborate safely, safeguard intellectual property, and handle data-heavy tasks.

Initially, 12 members of the Modern Networks team will work at the Exeter Science Park. They will focus on developing AI tools aimed at improving cybersecurity and managing digital infrastructures.

Duncan Gooding, the CEO of Modern Networks, expressed enthusiasm about the new venture. He stated, “We’re excited to expand at Exeter Science Park, which is a vibrant community that supports our growth. We play a key role in the UK Science Park Association and look forward to enhancing collaboration across science parks nationwide. Exeter will also benefit from being part of this larger ecosystem.”

He also praised the local team, saying, “The staff in Exeter are highly skilled and tech-focused. Being in a community with similar goals and in modern offices designed for innovation will be very beneficial for us.”

Jason Buck, head of business development at Exeter Science Park, welcomed Modern Networks, remarking, “We’re thrilled to have them join us. Their plans to explore new technologies, especially in AI, align perfectly with our focus on driving innovation. We can’t wait to see the results of their work here.”
