Actor Rohit Chandel Arrested on Allegations of Harassment
Rohit Chandel, a 29-year-old actor known for his roles in shows like Sairaab, Kashibai Bajirao Ballal, and Pandya Store, has been arrested by the Mumbai Police. This follows serious accusations made by a 16-year-old girl, including stalking, harassment, and assault. He has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act along with sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to reports, Chandel was arrested at his home in Dahisar on July 10. He was later brought before a special POCSO court, which placed him in police custody as investigations continue.
The young girl’s complaint indicates that Chandel repeatedly called her from various numbers, causing her distress. It also states that on July 5, he confronted her near her home, leading to a confrontation where he allegedly chased her, verbally abused her, and physically assaulted her.
A police official confirmed the arrest, stating that a case had been registered based on the girl’s complaint, and they are actively investigating the situation.
Adding further details, officials indicated that the charges of stalking and causing hurt come from sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
